svasti nas tarkshyo arishtanemih |
svastir no brihaspatir dadhatu ||
स्वस्तिनस्तार्क्श्यो अरिष्टनेमिः ।
स्वस्तिर्नो बृहस्पतिर्दधातु ॥
svasti-nas-tārkśyo ariṣṭanemiḥ |
svastir-no bṛhaspatir-dadhātu ||
May Garuda, full of eagerness to work, has good will toward us. |
May Brihaspati has good will toward us and conserve. ||
svasti (स्वस्ति, svasti) = Good, Well-being,
nas (नस्, nas) = for us
tarkshyah (तार्क्श्यः, tārkśyaḥ) = Name of the God, often identical with Garuda (गरुद, Garuda)
(or his older brother or father)
arishtanemih (अरिष्टनेमिः, ariṣṭanemiḥ) = one who is full of eagerness to work
svastir (स्वस्तिर्, svastir) = Good, Well-being
nas (नस्, nas) = for us
brihaspatih (बृहस्पतिः, bṛhaspatiḥ) = The teacher of all Gods, literally: great Lord, God of Religiosity and piety, he is the main presenter of offerings and prayers;
dadhatu (दधातु, dadhātu) = may he give us presents, conserve, preserve (imp. Activ. prasnamaipada)
