Mangala Mantra
Sentence 1
svasti praja bhyah pari pala yantan
nyayena margena mahim mahishah |
स्वस्तिप्रजाभ्यः परिपालयंतां
न्यायेन मार्गेण महीं महीशाः ।
svasti-prajā-bhyaḥ pari-pāla-yaṁtāṁ
nyāyena mārgeṇa mahīṁ mahīśāḥ |
May the well-being of all people be protected
By the powerful and mighty leaders be with law and justice.
svasti (स्वस्ति, svasti) = Wellbeing, Success; here as a whish: may there be Wellbeing!
prajabhyah (प्रजाभ्यः, prajābhyaḥ) = (pl. dat. – indirekt objekt) for the people, for mankind
paripalayantam (परिपालयंताम्, paripālayaṁtām) = (3. pers. pl. imperativ) protect, take care, rise
nyayena (न्यायेन, nyāyena) = in a right manner
margena (मार्गेण, mārgeṇa) = (instr. sg.) on the path
mahim (महीम्, mahīm) = (akk. sg.) earth
mahishah (महीशाः, mahīśāḥ) = rulers of the erarth
